Laundry Soap Powder

Amy from Raising Arrows shared this new laundry soap recipe and I am keen to try it.
I also had some concerns with the one I had been using, mainly that it didn't seem to clean the clothes. Here is the link to Amy's post, that way I don't have to type it all up again.

It could be that the children just get dirtier playing out side a lot.

For my dear friend Erin I have been separating the clothes. I am not a very good laundry maid, we always are trying to save water so I just put in as much as I can each load and in the past I haven't always separated clothes.

Shock, Horror, Bad laundry Maid!!!!!!!!

So for the new recipe for laundry Soap- it is not a liquid. I like a powder it i what I am used to

1 bar pure soap (Fels-Naptha, castille, etc) 155 grams
1 c. washing soda

1/2 c. borax

plus Maria's Added
1/2 cup bicarb soda (baking soda for non Aussie's)
1/2 cup salt
essential oil
medium-sized container with lid

Grate soap

Place soap in container. Add washing soda & borax. Mix well.

Use 1 Tbsp per load or 2 Tbsp per load for heavily soiled clothing.

I am hoping this works for us.

My dear friend Maria added this to the comment section so I am going to add it to the recipe:

If you add 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of salt and a bit of essential oil, mix well ~ you will have an awesome laundry detergent that will work beautifully even in cold water.

Blessings,

  3. Hi Gae,
Thank you for posting this! I recently posted a recipe for the liquid version of this and asked if anyone had a recipe for the dry. I will give this a try. My liquid works very well, but I was wanting to try the dry as it would be easier to store. God bless and have a nice weekend.

I do recommend that you separate the clothes and not overstuff the machine...I also try to conserve water, but I don't like the clothes to look dingy :)
