A fairly new tradition we have in the countdown to Christmas is this Advent Spiral. Like many other wonderful examples of beautiful traditions we had seen I loved the idea of this, but as I have said before was not keen to pay the price of the product. So once again our trusty woodsman was able to make the spiral shape and cut out the image of Mary on the donkey for us. Autumn painted them and I made some beautiful smelling beeswax candles.
As in everything today we lit the first candle for the journey of Mary toward Christmas.
I Love the glow of candlelight.
This is an image from last year from our St Lucia 'festival of light ceremony'

Beautiful. What wonderful craftsmanship. And, it will mean so much more knowing that your family made it than it would had you paid crazy money for it in a store.
Tonight we get to do it again!!!
I love this one.
