Well it has been over a week with no Internet and still we are waiting, so I am doing a quick phone hook up again because I have been so keen to share this face and body scrub I have made and used in our home.
I have made it twice now and although that does not seem a lot I make it in bulk and so it lasts a long time.
The last batch I made on the day my beautiful oldest daughter left to go to college along with the Hair products we use all the time as I wanted her to still have access to our home made products while gone.
Of course I expect she will need a refill when she comes home again!!
So what do you need for this wonderful and effective scrub that leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth?
The basics are found in your pantry cupboard unless you have eliminated sugar from your diet and then you need to buy some, like we did. However it is only used for this purpose and so lasts so very long.
What you will need:
A container and measuring cups
One cup of sugar- you can use a combination of white and brown but we use strictly brown only
1/4 to 1/2 a cup of oil- we used both coconut oil and olive oil but you can also add a combination of these and also sweet almond or grape seed or even apricot kernel.
and What ever essential oil you would like about six drops
As you gain confidence you can add other products as well like oatmeal, salt (although I would not use salt on your face) and anything you would like to experiment with!
Measure the sugar into a container, you can mix in the one you are going to keep your scrub in.
Add the oil to it gradually till you have a consistency you are happy with, mixing as you go.
Add the oil of your choice to the sugar and mix
The first time we did this we added sweet orange essential oil and it smelt so lovely
Store in a container and use as often as you like.
The second batch I like so much more than the first batch because we added a few extra things to it.
Instead of using essential oil we used ground coffee and my home made vanilla extract to create the most delicious smelling scrub.
Seriously if you love the smell of vanilla and coffee this is the one for you.
We keep it in the shower with our hair cleaning products and use as we shower.
To use it all you need to do is to wet your face get a small amount of scrub on your fingertips and rub over skin.
Wash off with warm water.
If for some reason you do not like the feel of the oil on your skin, which moisturises it, you can get some of that bicarb mix you use on your hair and give it a small rub with that and then rise off again.
I would say to you that this creates such a soft and fresh feeling skin afterwards that is is worth the effort of making it your self, and it is certainly cheaper and dare I say better for your skin than anything you can buy commercially.
Blessings to you and your homes,
