As I come nearer to the celebration of another 1st birthday I am grateful for this life I have been blessed with. My vocation as a Mummy is a gift I am thankful for every day .
Here a few thoughts I would like to share with you.
A Mother's Love ~
A mother's love! What can compare with it! Of all things on earth, it comes nearest to divine love in heaven.
A mother's love means a life's devotion - and sometimes a life's sacrifice - with but one thought, one hope and one feeling, that her children will grow up healthy and strong, free from evil habits and able to provide for themselves. Her sole wish is that they may do their part like men and women, avoid dangers and pitfalls, and when dark hours come, trust in Providence to give them strength, patience and courage to bear up bravely.
Happy is the mother when her heart's wish is answered, and happy are sons and daughters when they can feel that they have contributed to her noble purpose, and in some measure, repaid her unceasing, unwavering love and devotion.

A Mother's Prayer ~
Help me dear Lord, as a mother, I pray
And bless these hands folded in prayer today;
May they be ever strong as they guide, as they teach,
Beings never too far for a child to reach.
May they never, with selfishness, try to dissuade,
Nor too quickly punish, nor too slowly aid.
May they point out the pleasures in laughter and song,
And may they show, wisely, the right from the wrong,
So that one day I'll know that I've helped all I can
To make her a woman, to make him a man.

She Shall be Praised ~
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth no the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31: 10, 25-31

Thank you for writing such a lovely and inspirational post, Gae. My little guy will be one on the 30th and these thoughts are so timely for me. I wish I could keep thoughts like these in the forfront of my mind, but like my desk, they get lost in the clutter. LOL So I like to come here to be inspired!
