No cook Play Doh.............so easy!!!

We have made play doh so many times over the years and always used a cooked version (my version here) but I find the cooking part a tad difficult with eager helping children.
Last year for Christmas Saxon made some for Arwen and Trahaearn as gifts and we used this no cook version which is so very easy to use and I would absolutely let little ones be involved in the whole process.
It is all the more that way isn't it?

So here is the way we made our no cool play doh~
Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour (all purpose)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
up to 2 cups boiling water
food colouring
essential oil
Method: (with pictures)
In a large bowl mix the flour and  cream of tartar
Add the oil
Dissolve the salt in the boiling water- this gives a smother consistency to the doh
then for even coloration of theplay doh add the food coloring as well
Also if you want to add a scent now is the time as well. We love to use peppermint essential oil

Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough

Then take  it out of the bowl and kneed until smooth and firm
If it is sticky add a little more flour until happy
If you use two cups of water  you will end up having more play dough to play with .

We made two batches at the same time, hence the two colours.
The first time we used the two cups of water and then added a heap more flour.

The second time we added a bit of water at a time and did not need more flour at all.

My preference is the pink one, which had more flour added to it. I think it has a greater and smoother consistency to it. But both are excellent to play with.

I store mine in zip lock bags in the refrigerator and they seem to last very well.

Blessings to you and your homes,
