Hope you all have had a Happy day celebrating this Special Saint. When I got up this morning I was greeted with some surprises. Autumn had sewn an Irish flag on the sewing machine. This was quite a feat for her as she has a hatred of using the machine. Rogan had made a felt Shamrock and embroidered M on it for Mummy.
We also had a few St Patricks running around the house blessing people dressed up in green cloaks and staffs. Rogan and Eden also made a green bishops mitre and had Rogan dressed up with a fake beard as well.
Of course there was the painting of the flag on faces and arms by an enthusiastic painter
We started some of the colouring pages I had found, as well as the Shamrock craft from Wildflowers and Marbles.
We looked at our stack of Irish and St Patrick books. Two of our all time favouites are Jamie O'Rourke and Darby O'Gill.
This afternoon the children, with no help from me made our St Patricks Day Feast meal. We had Irish Beef and Guinness Stew and Shamrock Mint Cupcakes from Catholic Cuisine. We also used our own Irish Soda Bread recipe we have used for years.
To round out the meal we had jacket potatoes with sour cream and chives and some lovely green beans and peas.
For drinks we had milk with lime(green) flavouring.
After dinner we watched Patrick DVD narrated by Liam Neeson and our music today was Revival in Belfast.
It was a lovely day.
Just in case you are interested for some fun here is a Shamrock Personality Test
Your Shamrock Says You Are Level-Headed
You are brilliant, analytical, and somewhat of a perfectionist. You are ultra competent and knowledgeable.
At times, people find you intimidating. You can be a bit sarcastic and harsh.
You don't really consider yourself a lucky person. In your view, people create their own luck.
You are creative, innovative, and complicated. You definitely have a unique spin on the world.
