Until very recently I did not realise that in its processed form this is actually very bad for us and so taking my role seriously of trying only to provide the best for my family I made the switch to making my own lip balm.
I looked at different ingredients and ratios and came up with the mix we have below with different ingredients for differing purposes.
So I would like to share this with you..........
Chocolate Peppermint Honey Lip Balm~
A jar for melting the ingredients in
small jar or other container for finished product
stirring fork
measuring spoons
Very important: a cute assistant to help you measure (just not the hot over the stove work)
8 Tablespoons Oil - using a mix you like we used a mix of 3 tablespoons of shea butter, 3 tablespoons of cocao butter 1 tablespoon of Apricot Kernel Oil and 1 tablespoon of Olive oil
3 Tablespoons grated but packed Beeswax
1.5 Tablespoons Raw Honey
30 drops essential oils - divided into 16 drops of vitamin E, 14 drops of Rosehip oil and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
1. Place oil or mixture of oils and beeswax in glass jar (I don't add the Vitamin E oil or the rosehip at this stage)
2. then put it in a pan of simmering water.
3. Heat gently until everything has pretty much melted.
4.Remove mixture from heat, add the honey essential oil, rosehip and vitamin E. Using a fork stir until blended.
An option to making the mix harden faster is to lace the pan or bowl in a larger bowl full of cold water. Stir quickly until the mixture begins to become thicker.
Frankly I can't be bothered with the water and we just take turns stirring it every minute or so until it hardens. There are no shortage of helpers who are keen to have a mix.
5.Pour mixture into containers, place covers on, and let sit to cool and set up.
Enjoy the smell and flavour of this lovely lip balm, not to mention the benefits of soft protected lips
Blessings to you and your homes,
