Calendula infused Oil and a Salve too.........

Calendula Salve!
You can buy this at the health food shop with all sorts of  different base products.
When we have bought it I always buy it in a lanolin base, just cause I love lanolin and find it is a very good healer in itself.

When I have made it I use a beeswax base and it has a lighter and smoother texture compared to the lanolin, which can be harder to apply in the winter especially.
How to make this-
Take:
3/4 cup of infused Calendula oil (see below for instructions)
1/4 cup of grated and lightly packed grated beeswax (I grate my own)
Place ingredients in a glass jar in a  saucepan with water in it.
Do not heat the water prior to placing the glass jar in!!
Stir occasionally until all is melted together
Then pour into your containers and let set.
I find that stirring during the setting stage creates a smoother slave.

What do we use it for?
Well just about on any skin that needs healing including little babies with sore bottoms.
Last year I made this Calendula infused oil in expectation of making my own salve.
This is how I did it.
It is so simple really
Simply take some dried Calendula petals and put them in a jar
Add Olive oil to cover and give it a stir to get the air bubbles out.
Put the lid on and place on a window sill (a sunny sort of place) then each day give the jar a little shake for about 6 weeks or so.
No precise time is needed just keep a date so you can go from there
After the initial stage simply drain the oil from the jar into a sieve and
perhaps do a second strain with a cheesecloth if it has floating bits.

Place in a jar and then use for your salve (above) or I have applied it directly onto a wound that needs healing too.

I love the home made versions of these healing  creams.

Blessings to you and your homes,
