May Day Crowning and Bookcase

This is our May Bookcase Display. As it it the month of Mary we have the display in honour of her.
Along the bookcase are some books we will read.
These are some of the other books we will read as well as the small oneson top of the bookcase.
Our little girls decorated the May Mary Altar
Another view of the bookcase showing the basket of small flowers from which we will make Mary crowns.
Our Lady of Grace statue and the Rosary books, a rosary and some flowers.
We still have our Easter tree up as well as we still are in the Easter season.
The larger books with Father Pine sitting on top in Blue vestments in honour of Our Lady.
We have some of our favourite Marian pictures on the wall along with the 'Blessed Mother' wooden cut outs.

Mary's Coronation~
In the Marian Year of 1987, the Congregation for Divine Worship published "The Order of Crowning an Image of the Blessed Virgin Mary":

The queen symbol was attributed to Mary because she was a perfect follower of Christ, who is the absolute "crown" of creation. She is the Mother of the Son of God, who is the messianic King. Mary is the Mother of Christ, the Word Incarnate. ..."He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High; the Lord will give him the throne of his father David; and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end" (Luke 1:32-33). Elizabeth greeted the Blessed Virgin, pregnant with Jesus, as "the Mother of my Lord" (Luke 1:41-43). Mary is the perfect follower of Christ. The maid of Nazareth consented to God's plan; she journeyed on the pilgrimage of faith; she listened to God's Word and kept it in her heart; she remained steadfastly in close union with her Son, all the way to the foot of the Cross; she persevered in prayer with the Church. Thus, in an eminent way she won the "crown of righteousness" (2 Tim 4:8), the "crown of life" (Jas 1:12; Rev 2:10), the "crown of glory" (1 Pet 5:4) that is promised to those who follow Christ.
As we have the Autumn season here it is very hard to find flowers blooming so we will be making our Mary crowns from pipe cleaners and small flowers.

We have no large outdoor statues but will crown our three beautiful in house statues. We will just be winding 2 or 3 pipe cleaners together and in a circle and pushing in the little flowers.

We are planning our crowning ceremony, well this week hopefully (if things work out)

I love this picture to colour and this too and of course Charlotte has some lovely ones including this one and another new one I have found.

This is probably the mix of ideas we will have for our Crowning ceremony:
1. Regina Coeli
2. Litany of Loreto
3. The little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Hymns:
Bring Flowers to the Fairest
Immaculate Mary
Hail Holy Queen

Prayer:
Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue

Lovely Lady dressed in blue ----
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
Tell me what to say!

Did you lift Him up, sometimes,
Gently on your knee?
Did you sing to Him the way
Mother does to me?

Did you hold His hand at night?
Did you ever try
Telling stories of the world?
O! And did He cry?

Do you really think He cares
If I tell Him things-
Little things that happen? And
Do the Angels' wings

Make a noise? And can He hear
Me if I speak low?
Does He understand me now?
Tell me ---- for you know?

Lovely Lady dressed in blue ----
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little boy,
And you know the way.

These are a various mix of links to May Crownings.
Some other lovely coronation ideas, some more elaborate than others.
This is a printed out version already prepared from St Brigid's Academy .
Perhaps next year we will try this one -a lot longer though
Also this is a lovely version too.

Always good ideas to pick and choose from Catholic Icing
Charlotte also has a beautiful idea here.

Also Kimberlee has a wonderful creative activity for this month of May:Marian Artist Trading Swap Jump over to have a look. Pity there is an ocean between us or we would have loved to join in.
I am hoping also we will be able to complete our May Baskets that just didn't happen on May 1st, again, like last year.

Blessings,
