Take hold of each moment!!

Perhaps it is the blessing and yet the curse (for want of a better word) of being the mother of a large number of children.

It certainly becomes more apparent as we have these older children moving on with their own lives that allows me to appreciate the never ending rule of life and just how quickly that time can go.

Thus this blessing also allows me to perhaps give more of myself to these precious bundles of love in a way that I did not fully with the older ones.
It's not that I did not give of myself fully with our older children but my perspective was different.
It seemed as if we would always have this time to love and nourish them and spend time together.
After all it would be ages before any of them would be very big.

But reality is a hit that just happens, whether we are ready for it or not.
Those babies did get big and  though we were more blessed than we had ever thought possible with more precious little ones, it is still a daily gift to share time and memories with our children.

Needless to say I value these days more and more and I look for ways to preserve these memories that can get lost in the importance of our everyday lives.

I can honestly say that I love taking photos of our lives together.
I have always been a keen (not necessarily good) photographer and I find that looking and capturing some of this on film (well computer these days) offers me an opportunity to constantly look for the beauty in not only my children, our family but also in God's creation that I am surrounded with.

So if some days this blog seems very picture heavy in content it is because  I am preserving those precious memories to print so they become even more a part of my life than they already are.

And may I say  I remember an older mother saying to me when I had only little ones "They grow up so quickly so take time to smell the roses" and I can say I am thankful for the blessing I have had of smelling this sweet bouquet every day.

Blessings to you and your homes,

Yes, it is so important to remember that not just childhood, but an entire lifetime is a fleeting thing and we need to make every moment count :)

What a blessing to have a house full of children and to still have little ones at home while you're older ones are growing and starting their own lives. It helps you appreciate your little ones more...and that you have them to treasure those times.
My kids are now getting closer to finishing their high school years at home and I'm seeing the time fly by so quickly. The young moms at my church (and there are many right now) have been saying they don't like to hear "They grow up so quickly..." I remember women saying that to me when mine were little. We just don't value those words until we're there.
This is a great post!
