Celebrating Jane Austen Day

In my plans for this year I have been very diligent to mark on the calender those other celebrations we would like to remember outside our regular birthdays and Liturgical Celebrations.
Some of these include famous authors that we have enjoyed as a family.

Naturally as a literature loving family Jane Austen is one of them.
Somehow on Stephen's side of the family the children are distant relations to Miss Austen and love to refer to her as 'our dear cousin' and so the first of our celebrations for this year was in honour of Miss Jane.
The day we chose to have this celebration was on 26 January as this was the release date of Pride and Prejudice and is one of our favourites of dear Jane's.
The girls planned quite an array of activities for the day (I seem to have lost the list) some of which were completed and some were a mere  wishful thought.

Celebrations of an important  nature nearly always involve having Tea Cups and a Tea Party for us even when the celebration is of a small nature.
Naturally we had to at least start watching our favourite TV version of Pride and Prejudice................
and while watching said screening it is essential that viewers have lovely full tummies after consuming scones with jam and cream that had been served with the tea before hand.
As with any of these activities I am always thankful to those children who help to create these moments and pray that the building of these memories will be life long held treasures for them as they are for me.

I wonder who will be next on our list, don't you?

Blessings to you and your homes,

I just can't remember how now Erin will have to ask Stephen's mother but the older girls are especially fascinated :)

Dear Kelly,
I must admit books and tea cups are a bit of a passion for me. All our children have a special tea cup and some of the girls have more than one and me well lets just say I love them

How fun! I am also a big fan of "your cousin Jane" :) My daughter would enjoy doing something like this too and we use any excuse we can for tea! Thank you for sharing this great idea on the Art of Home-Making Mondays! We are glad to have you join us!
